Repair of the road from PJSC “Podilsky Cement” to the H-03 highway “Zhytomyr-Chernivtsi” has been completed

Now we want to present the successfully completed project of repairing the road section from PJSC “Podilsky Cement” to the H-03 highway “Zhytomyr-Chernivtsi”. This initiative was aimed at restoring the worn-out road infrastructure and ensuring safe and comfortable movement for road users. Modern methods of road repair

• Dismantling asphalt concrete road pavement using cold milling machines allows the milled asphalt to be reused for other construction works. Thanks to the use of cold milling machines, we were able to ensure efficient removal of the old pavement without damaging the road base.
• Leveling holes and unevenness is extremely important to ensure even load distribution and extend the life of the road. For this, modern materials were used – asphalt concrete mixtures and special leveling solutions.
• High-quality road base construction is the key to a durable and reliable foundation. To ensure stability and strength, we used the best materials, including crushed stone of fractions 40-70 mm and 20-40 mm. The process included laying and compacting layers of soil mixtures and crushed stone in accordance with the design requirements.
• The installation of a reinforced concrete pavement made of fiber concrete ensures high wear resistance and durability of the road. The process included laying a reinforcing mesh, pouring a concrete mixture with fibers, thorough compaction and smoothing the surface.
• Provision of expansion joints with reinforcement and bitumen filling. The joints were reinforced and filled with bitumen mastic to seal and prevent moisture penetration.

Modern road repair methods involve the use of the latest materials, technologies, and careful adherence to all stages of work.

Types of road surfaces

There are different types of pavement used for road construction, including:

• Asphalt pavement is the most common for roads, but it is less durable than concrete roads and requires more frequent repairs.
• Concrete pavement – can last 30-40 years without periodic repairs. The advantage of concrete roads, unlike asphalt, is that concrete does not soften at high temperatures and does not become brittle at low temperatures.
• Fiber concrete coating – has increased tensile strength and resistance to cracking. This is a type of concrete coating reinforced with fibers.

Due to their durability, strength, and stability, concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete roads are the optimal choice for intensively used roads with high traffic loads.
